I was only 9 years old when I was in Mersey Beat which is a police drama series set in Runcorn close to where I live. It was the first speaking part that I ever did and I wasn't very experienced at all, (I think I just about pulled it off though...)
I played the part of Troy Johnstone, a young boy who is abducted by his father who turns out to be a really nice man who just misses his son. When the policewoman who is chasing Troy is pushed from a cliff and dies the police want to arrest Troy's Dad - Ronnie, as it was him who pushed her.
There wasn't much to say in this role which was good, but there was a lot of running to do. I really liked working with Jonathan Kerrigan who plays PC Steve Traynor in Mersey Beat. He was lots of fun and like a big kid too!!! He went on to be a policeman again in Heartbeat (60's police drama series).
When Mersey Beat came on the TV, we had the whole family round to watch it and everybody cheered when they saw me. My Mum and Dad and sister got small parts in it too, in the scene where there is an angry crowd outside a suspects flat (apartment). My Dad had to throw a brick through the window (it was ok though as it was made of sponge).
I do want to point out though, that my family is not like this whatsoever. :-)
